Species of Paltothyreus Paltothyreus is currently considered to be monotypic, though P. tarsatus has a large number of junior synonyms and subspecies, suggesting significant morphological variation within the species. A careful study of the variation in P. tarsatus could reveal it to be a species complex. P. tarsatus (Fabricius, 1798): Senegal (comb. rev.)
