Abstract

«Gustavo Bontadini amava dire che esistono molteplici “filosofie”, ma che la metafisica è una. Essa è la “scienza dell’Intero”» [p. 7], con queste parole Leonardo Messinese presenta il volume monografico della rivista «Aquinas», dedicato alla domanda «Che cos’è metafisica?». La situazione storica attuale, con il suo proliferare di metafisiche e pensieri post-metafisici, nonché i novant’anni dalla prolusione accademica tenuta da Martin Heidegger all’Università di Freiburg i. Br., intitolata Was ist Metaphysik?, sono le ragioni che hanno portato a questa importante iniziativa editoriale. Con il venir meno del riferimento all’Intero nel pensiero contemporaneo, è ancora possibile parlare di metafisica? Come riformulare in modo più rigoroso e adeguato ai tempi quella che era considerata la regina di tutte le scienze? A queste domande sono dedicati i molti e autorevoli contributi presenti nel fascicolo. La ricchezza del volume è, infatti, data dalle molteplici prospettive da cui viene affrontata la questione, alcune ascrivibili alla tradizione della metafisica classica, altre con essa critiche, ma tutte originali e stimolanti. Tra i contributi presenti, quello di Emanuele Severino acquista un significato particolare, poiché il grande filosofo bresciano è venuto a mancare durante la stampa del fascicolo, che, pertanto, è dedicato alla sua memoria.
