Educaci��n Ambiental: Una Propuesta Educativa para Promover el Desarrollo Sostenible

Abstract

El desarrollo sostenible es la capacidad de una sociedad para cubrir las necesidades b��sicas de las personas sin perjudicar el medioambiente. En las ��ltimas d��cadas, la problem��tica ambiental se ha venido agudizando en el planeta y nuestro pa��s no es la excepci��n, por ello el ��mbito universitario es el espacio ideal para buscar generar conciencia ambiental entre sus estudiantes. El presente estudio tuvo por objetivo identificar la implementaci��n de acciones de ecoeficiencia en el hogar a partir de la informaci��n proporcionada durante el curso de Educaci��n Ambiental de la Universidad Cient��fica del Sur. El curso busca desarrollar una de las competencias generales de la universidad, el compromiso ambiental, y est�� dirigido a todos los estudiantes de esta casa de estudios. Las diferentes estrategias pedag��gicas se dan en un contexto de aprendizaje colaborativo e incluyen procedimientos e instrumentos dise��ados especialmente para ello y responden al contexto actual de nuestro pa��s. El estudio fue descriptivo, con dise��o no experimental y transeccional, la informaci��n se recolect�� mediante la aplicaci��n de un instrumento, validado, a una muestra significativa de estudiantes del curso. Los resultados del estudio refieren que el 67% de estudiantes ha llevado a cabo acciones a fin de ahorrar agua, el 65% economizar energ��a, el 63% reducir el uso de pl��sticos, aunque s��lo el 45% indic�� reciclar residuos s��lidos. Finalmente, es importante destacar el rol de la universidad en la promoci��n del compromiso ambiental entre sus estudiantes y sus entornos, siendo el curso de Educaci��n Ambiental la herramienta ideal para ello.
