RESUMEN El cáncer gástrico es un problema de salud que está afectando a un gran número de la población mundial. Como consecuencia de ello se ha presentado la necesidad de desarrollar tecnologías que coadyuven al diagnóstico temprano de cáncer gástrico. Es por ello que se analizó el estatus en publicaciones científicas y solicitudes de patentes para observar la respuesta que se ha tenido ante esta necesidad, encontrado que los EEUU lideran los ranking en estos dos escenarios, seguidos de países como Japón y China. Adicionalmente se identificó una participación importante de empresas como Genentech Inc. e Immatics Biotechnoligies Gmbh., en la presentación de documentos de patente. Por otro lado, la tendencia en la actividad de solicitudes de patentes relativas al diagnóstico y/o tratamiento de cáncer gástrico se presenta a la alza, junto con un pronóstico de estabilidad en la producción de artículos científicos en este mismo tema. ABSTRACT Gastric cancer is a health problem that is affecting a large number of the world's population. As a result there has been the need to develop technologies that contribute to the early diagnosis of gastric cancer. Is for this reason that analyzed the status in scientific publications and patent applications to observe the response that has been given this need, found that the United States lead the ranking in these two scenarios, followed by countries like Japan and China. Additionally identified an important participation of companies like Genentech Inc. and Immatics Biotechnoligies Gmbh, in presentation of patent documents. On the other hand the trend in the activity of patent applications relating to the diagnosis and/or treatment of gastric cancer is on the rise, together with a forecast of stability in the production of scientific articles in this topic.
