Acmopolynema longicoxillum Xu & Lin 2002

Abstract

Acmopolynema longicoxillum Xu & Lin 2002 (Figs 63–66) Acmopolynema longicoxilla Xu & Lin 2002: 142–144. Type locality: Jiangle, Fujian, China. Acmopolynema reticoxilla Xu & Lin 2002: 144–145. Type locality: Jiangle, Fujian, China. Syn. n. Type material examined Holotype female of A. longicoxilla (on slide, BCRI): China, Fujian, Jiangle, 10.x.1991, N.-q. Lin (labeled as " Acmopolynema bifasciatipennis female Det: Xu Mei". Holotype male of A. reticoxilla (on slide, BCRI): China, Fujian, Jiangle, 10.x.1991, N.-q. Lin (labeled as " Acmopolynema recicoxais [this is an earlier, manuscript name] male, sp. n. Det: Xu Mei". Additional material examined CHINA, Hainan Island, Tien Fong Mountains, 17.v.1983, Z. Bouček [1 female, BMNH]. MALAYSIA, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Univ. of Malaysia, 100 m, 23.vi.1990, J.M. Heraty [1 female, CNCI]. TAIWAN, Taipei, Yangminshan, 15.vi–15.vii.1991, H.Y. Wang [1 female, CNCI]. VIETNAM, Ha Tinh Huong Son, 18°22'N, 105°13'E, 600 m, 7.iv–10.v.1998, L. Herman [1 female, CNCI]. Diagnosis Member of the orientale species group. See Xu & Lin (2002) for adequate descriptions of both A. longicoxilla (female) and A. reticoxilla (male). Upper mandibular tooth rounded. Female antenna (Fig. 63) with F2 and F3 brown, F6 brown to dark brown. Pronotum entire [Xu & Lin (2002) erroneously stated (probably because the mesosoma of the holotype is mounted laterally) that the pronotum in this species is divided medially and they also used this feature to separate A. longicoxillum from the remaining Chinese species of Acmopolynema]. Propodeum (Fig. 64) without a medial groove, submedial carinae a little longer than half propodeal length but not reaching anterior margin of propodeum. Vertex, scape, pronotum, coxae, femora, and tibiae with short, blunt setae. Scutellum without a row of frenal foveae. Female forewing (Fig. 65) with 3 brown spots; marginal vein with 2 dorsal macrochaetae. Ovipositor slightly exserted (by 1/13–1/6 of its length); ovipositor length: metatibia length 1.0–1.3:1. Distribution China, Malaysia [new record], Taiwan [new record], and Vietnam [new record]. Comments The male of A. longicoxillum was collected from the same place and on the same date as the female and later described as A. reticoxilla. It agrees with the female in almost every regard except for the sexually dimorphic characters such as a darker color and a hyaline forewing (Fig. 66), differences that are quite common in the orientale species group.
