Cyrtophloeba nigripalpis Rondani 1859

Abstract

Cyrtophloeba nigripalpis Rondani, 1859 ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1859b: 188 (key), 189 (description). TYPE LOCALITY: “Scandinavia …; in Scania … ad Esperöd in paroec. Tranås…; in Ostrogoth. ad Gusum, D. Wahlberg; in Ölandia, ♀ a D. Boheman lecta; in Dania ad Hafniam, D. Staeger [Scandinavia …; Scania … in Äsperöd in Tranås; female collected by D. Boheman in Östergötland in Gusum; Denmark in Copenhagen by D. Staeger]” (Zetterstedt 1844: 1093) [localities for Cyrtophloeba ruricola (Meigen, 1824) sensu Zetterstedt (1844)]; “ in planitiae and collibus dictionis parmensis [Parmese hills and plains (Italy)]” (Rondani 1859b: 189) [type locality for Cyrtophloeba nigripalpis Rondani, 1859]. TYPE MATERIAL: 2 ♂♂, syntypes (one missing all legs except right hind-leg, the other missing right fore- and midlegs) (MZUF: Box 12): Cyrthophleba [sic!] Rnd. / nigripalpis Rnd., ♂ / 616; 2 ♀♀, syntypes (one missing right fore-leg) (MZUF: Box 12) Cyrthophleba [sic!] Rnd. / nigripalpis Rnd., ♀; 1 specimen, syntype (sex not determinable, missing right fore-leg) (MSNC: Box DIPTERA Ex collezione Rondani - I): Cyrthophloeba R. nigripalpis R. 386 Parma / Coll. Rondani, scatola n° 5, posiz. B-7 / Museo di Storia Naturale Università di Pisa, Calci (PI) ex collezione Rondani; 1 ♀, syntype (MZLU: Box 21): T. ruricola ♀, Esper. [= Äsperöd (Sweden)] / Type no. 48969-2. CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Cyrtophloeba ruricola (Meigen, 1824) (Herting & Dely-Draskovits 1993: 384). REMARKS: Rondani (1859b: 189) proposed Cyrtophloeba nigripalpis for Cyrtophloeba ruricola (Meigen, 1824) sensu Zetterstedt (1844: 1093), which he considered a new species. Rondani referred to Zetterstedt’s redescription of Cyrtophloeba ruricula, which was based on an unspecified number of specimens, and to an unspecified number of specimens in his collection. Therefore, the type material is in the collections of Zetterstedt (MZLU) and Rondani (MZUF, MSNC). We found six syntypes in this study: two males and two females in the MZUF, one specimen in the MSNC and one female in the MZLU.
