Presentation from the workshop "Participatory evaluation in citizen science" at the CitSciVirtual21 - the 2021 conference of the Citizen Science Association. The workshop started from the observation that while Citizen Science is highly participatory, evaluation does not live up to this claim. In the workshop we briefly explored existing approaches to participatory evaluation where participants are involved from the beginning, e.g. in co-designing the evaluation strategy. Moreover we discussed different approaches and the respective possible risks and pitfalls based on concrete experiences.
