To reveal the features of the circular economy model, its basic principles, features, rules, sources of value added and to explore the role of eco–innovation as a key means of its implementation. Methodology of work. A study of the prospects for the spread of eco–innovation as one of the tools of the closed–loop economy, aimed at sustainable development. The ways and preconditions of dissemination of eco–innovations in Ukraine are revealed, in particular on the basis of the analysis of priorities of strategic documents and priority directions of innovative activity. Results of work. The economic essence of the financial and organizational mechanism of ensuring the transition to a closed cycle economy is revealed. Ways of transformation of resource–efficient production into a circular economy are considered. The relationship between national goals and objectives in the field of resource efficiency and eco–innovation for Ukraine is reflected. Conclusions. Circular economy or closed–cycle economy – a model of economic development, the basis of which is the rational use of resources and their recovery. This concept is based on three principles: consumption reduction, reuse and recycling. A closed–loop economy creates opportunities for sustainable development and competitiveness. The advantages of this model of economic development are: innovative and resource–efficient methods of production and consumption; protection of enterprises from lack of resources and unstable prices; optimal waste disposal; energy savings due to a closed production cycle; reducing the negative impact on the environment. That is why this concept has become a priority in long–term strategic planning for post–industrial and industrialized countries. Ukraine urgently needs to increase the efficiency of resource use, modernize outdated technologies and industrial processes, generate innovations to green production and solve problems of dirty environment and waste.
