Teknik Pemeliharaan dalam Kegiatan Penangkaran (Budidaya) Kupu-Kupu

Abstract

Kupu-kupu merupakan satwa yang berasal dari ordo Lepidoptera, satwa ini memiliki ciri utama sayap yang terdiri dari sisik. Kupu-kupu telah lama dikenal sebagai satwa yang memiliki nilai ekonomi tinggi, yang dapat dijadikan sebagai objek rekreasi di taman kupu-kupu maupun sebagai satwa koleksi. Penangkaran kupu-kupu dapat berhasil apabila pengelola mampu menghadirkan habitat buatan yang mampu menyokong aspek kehidupan dari kupu-kupu, menyediakan pakan yang cukup dan memahami ekologi dari satwa ini, dan yang tidak kalah penting adalah memahami teknik pemeliharaan atau perlakuan kupu-kupu selama di penangkaran. Sebagai bahan pembelajaran, pembanding dan rujukan bagi upaya penangkaran kupu-kupu di berbagai kawasan lain di Indonesia, maka penelitian berjudul ‘Teknik pemeliharaan dalam kegiatan penangkaran (budidaya) kupu-kupu’ ini menjadi penting untuk dilakukan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui teknik pemeliharaan dalam kegiatan penangkaran (budidaya) kupu-kupu. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode studi literatur, wawancara dan observasi. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan dapat disimpulkan bahwa budidaya kupu-kupu terdiri dari beberapa tahap yaitu pemilihan jenis, seleksi bibit, mengawinkan induk, memelihara telur kupu-kupu dalam media cawan petri selama 7-8 hari, memelihara larva langsung pada dahan tanaman pakan selama 13-15 hari, memelihara kepompong di lemari pupa selama kurang lebih 10 hari dan memelihara kupu-kupu dewasa di taman kupu
