Ixodes luciae Aitken et al. (1969) recorded I. luciae during their survey of arthropods for natural viral infections. Everard and Tikasingh (1973) found I. luciae on rodents (Oryzomys capito and Proechimys guyannensis) from Turure Forest. In 1974, Smith recorded I. luciae from small wild animals from Trinidad. Distribution: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Guyana, Guatemala, Peru, Mexico, Nicaragua, Surinam, Venezuela. Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana and Panama (Guglielmone et al. 2011)
