Handl. 14: 141, 143 (misspelling). Cryphocricus: Champion 1901, Biol. Cent. Amer. 2: 354 (misspelling). Type species by monotypy: Cryphocricos barozzii Signoret, 1850: 291. Distribution. This genus is exclusively New World and primarily Neotropical in distribution, although with the incursion of one species into the Nearctic region.
