Obesidad abdominal, un riesgo creciente en la UPTC.

Abstract

Introducción: La literatura reporta efectos por la presencia o no de actividad física, asociados con enfermedades crónicas no trasmisibles, especialmente las asociadas con el sistema cardiovascular. La UPTC no es ajena a esta situación, y requiere estudios que develen esta problemática que viene en aumento a nivel global. Objetivo: Identificar posibles asociaciones entre actividad física y algunos factores de riesgo cardiovascular. Materiales y métodos: Diseño de prevalencia analítica a 137 empleados de 30 y 65 años, muestra aleatoria estratificada. Se aplicó encuesta de factores de riesgo cardiovascular, medidas antropométricas y muestra sanguínea venosa. El análisis incluyo regresión lineal simple y múltiple. Resultados. El estudio presenta situación de riesgo cardiovascular cuando la actividad física es insuficiente. Los empleados de la UPTC presentan riesgo cardiovascular por prevalencias de triglicéridos altos, sobrepeso, niveles bajos de HDL y colesterol total alto. Algunos trabajadores presentan síndrome metabólico y para otros, lo será en un futuro. Conclusiones: Se encontró asociación entre algunos factores de riesgo cardiovascular y la práctica insuficiente de actividad física; y probablemente los hábitos de alimentación. Se requiere de más estudios en otras poblaciones y participación Interinstitucional que impacte en la población de esta región del país.
