Eight types of vanappu were first mentioned in the Tolkappiyam, the development of the forest extends to later grammars such as Yaparungalam, Yaparungalakarikai, Yaparungala Viruthi, Tandiyalankaram, Veerasozhiyam, Maranalankaram. In that sense, Tolkappier’s theory of the vanappu developed into later grammars. Therefore, the grammar of numerous vanappu, the stages of development in later grammars, their similarities and differences are very clearly spoken.
