Abstract

This entire dataset contains 5 files with additional information related to the Publication: 'Review of Tortuosity: Classical Theory and Modern Methods' by Holzer et al (2021) in Int. Mat. Rev. 1_Table_2.xlsx This file represents the source file for Table 2 (List with empirical tortuosity-porosity (τ−ε)-data from literature) in the publication 'Review of Tortuosity'. The source file contains 2204 tortuosity-porosity (τ−ε) data points from 69 literature references with detailed information for each data point. The source file for table 2 is the basis for Tortuosity-Porosity plots that are contained in Fig. 4 to 11 in the publication 'Review of Tortuosity'. It is also the basis for examples that are presented in chapter 3.3. The excel file is structured into separate sheets for each type of material (SOFC, PEM, Battery, Geology, etc). Column A: nr of dataset, to which it is referred in Table 2 and in the examples or chapter 3.3 Column F: Tortuosity type according to proposed nomenclature Columns H-J: Information on methodology used to determine tortuosity Columns K-M: Information on Material and research field Column P: Effective porosity (on the contiguous part of porosity is used in plots of tortuosity - porosity relationships) Column Q: tortuosity Columns T, U: Additional Information on Microstructure type 2_Table_3 mathematical tortuosity-porosity relationships.docx This file contains an extended version of table 3 (mathematical τ−ε relationships from literature) from the publication 'Review of Tortuosity'. 3_Chapter_4_1_6_Correlative_Tomography.docx This file represents an extended version of chapter 4.1.6 (Correlative Tomography) from the publication 'Review of Tortuosity'. In particular it contains a table and a figure with data from studies on correlative tomography from literature. 4_Table_5 Image Modelling SW.xlsx This file represents an extended version of table 5 (Compilation of SW for 3D Image Processing and Modeling) from the publication 'Review of Tortuosity'. The extended version includes information on the relevant homepages of the SW packages. 5_Chapter_4_5_Porescale_Modelling.docx This file represents an extended version of chapter 4.5 (Pore scale modelling) from the publication 'Review of Tortuosity'. In particular it describes recent examples of pore scale modeling studies in the fields of geoscience and electrochemistry applications
