Five species of the family Vanikoridae from West Africa are studied and two of them are described as new species: Macromphalus saharicus spec. nov. from Sahara and Macromphalina gofasi spec. nov. from Angola. The external morphology of the soft parts, the radula and the protoconch of Macromphalina species are shown. The similarities and differences among West African species placed in Macromphalina Cossmann, 1888, in comparison with those of Macromphalus S. V. Wood, 1842 and Megalomphalus Brusina, 1871, are discussed. The genus Macromphalina is redescribed.
