This upload contains photos of tool marks and carpenter marks (assembly marks) found in the roof timbers of the sacristy of Jaen cathedral, in Spain. They were originally published in the following article: Domínguez-Delmás, M., Van Daalen, S., Alejano-Monge, R., Wazny,T., 2018. Timber resources, transport and woodworking techniques in post-medieval Andalusia (Spain): Insights from dendroarchaeological research on historic roof structures. Journal of Archaeological Science 95: 64–75. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jas.2018.05.002 Some of the timbers could have been reused from the previous mosque and could not be dated. Dated timbers correspond to the construction of the sacristy shortly after 1574. Assembly marks suggest that the roof structure was pre-assembled on the ground before lifting the timbers to the roof. Please refer to the original article for more detailed information.
