El recién nacido macrosómico es aquel que pesa 4000 gr o más, esta condición aumenta la morbilidad y mortalidad materno-fetal, además de aumentar el riesgo de sobrepeso, obesidad, y enfermedades crónicas no trasmisibles. Se realizó un estudio observacional retrospectivo, analítico caso control, de la base de datos del Sistema Informático Perinatal (SIP) del hospital Gineco Obstétrico Isidro Ayora de los últimos 8 años, los datos se analizaron mediante modelos de regresión logística simple y múltiple, se incluye el valor OR y su intervalo de confianza 95%, los datos se procesaron con el programa R 3.3.1 (2016). Las variables asociadas a macrosomía fueron: diabetes, edad gestacional, edad materna, gestas previas, estado civil y sexo del recién nacido. Además se encontró mayor porcentaje de nacimientos vía cesárea, y asociacion negativa con embarazo múltiple. La mayoría de los factores que se reportan asociación con macrosomía en las diferentes publicaciones, se encontró en este estudio.
