Abstract

Genus Ornebius Guérin-Méneville, 1844 The genus includes 119 species and most species are varied greatly in morphology of male genitalia. According to these features, the genus was classified as five groups (Tab. 1). Key to the species of Ornebius from China (adult males) 1. Wingless; fore tibia without tympanum..................................................... O. apterus He, 2018 - Winged; fore tibia with tympanum........................................................................ 2 2. Tegmen with only a small portion exposed, outer margin of posterior portion without black mark................................................................................................... O. longipennis (Shiraki, 1930) - Tegmen typically for this genus, or most parts exposed and outer margin of posterior portion with two black mark........ 3 3. Genitalia with spermatophore sac spiral (Fig. 1)............................ Species group formosanus (Shiraki, 1911) ................................................................................................... 4 - Genitalia not as above................................................................................. 8 4. Tegmen brown; cercus alternating brown and yellow....................................... O. polycomus He, 2017 - Tegmen yellow with outer margin dark brown.............................................................. 5 5. Tegmen apically ornamented with dark brown patches large, covered from half part of mirror to tegmen tip.................................................................................................... O. panda He, 2019 - Tegmen apically ornamented with dark brown patches small, only covered apical margin............................ 6 6. Epiproct narrow, peltate......................................................... O. formosanus (Shiraki, 1911) - Epiproct rounded and its width approximately 1/4 of the tenth abdominal tergite.............. O. yunnanensis Wang, 2020 OR Epiproct rounded and its width approximately 1/2 of the tenth abdominal tergite................................ 7 7. Anterior and posterior margins of tenth abdominal tergite emarginate in the middle, with lateral margin raised................................................................................................. O. aurumalas sp. n. - Anterior and posterior margins of tenth abdominal tergite straight, with lateral margin not raised............................................................................................................... O. lunam sp. n. 8. Medial valves of male phallic complex armed with strongly sclerotized, compressed internal sclerites with acute apex and the base dorsally to support spermatophore sac (Fig. 11).................... Species group kanetataki (Matsummura, 1904) ................................................................................................... 9 - Genitalia not as above................................................................................ 11 9. Tegmen with most parts exposed, outer margin of posterior parts with a black mark on each side.................................................................................................. O. bimaculatus (Shiraki, 1930) - Tegmen normal, outer margin of posterior parts without a black mark on each side................................ 10 10. Tegmen yellowish brown......................................................... O. fuscicerci (Shiraki, 1930) - Tegmen dark brown............................................................. O. infuscatus (Shiraki, 1930) OR Tegmen brown.......................................................... O. kanetataki (Matsumura, 1904) 11. Scleritised parts of genitalia angular (Fig. 15).................................... Species group alii Bhowmik, 1970 .................................................................................... O. carnificare sp. n. - Tongue-shaped epiphallus which covers most of central lobe; central lobe of phallus with lateral valves dorsoventrally compressed with acute apex, ejaculatory duct with apex truncate and a little notched (Fig. 17)...................................................................................................... Species group flori Ingrisch, 1998 .............................................................................. O. fastus Yang & Yen, 2001
