Souvenirs Aus Luzern

Abstract

Schon seit Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts nahmen die zunächst noch wenigen, aber umso zahlungskräftigeren Alpentouristen gerne Souvenirs mit nach Hause. Beliebt waren vor allem Holzschnitzereien, romantisierende Malereien und Landschaftstapeten. Als ab der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts die Touristenzahlen anstiegen, vervielfältigte sich auch die Nachfrage nach Souvenirs. In Luzern wurden vor allem geschnitzte Nachbildungen des Löwendenkmals und Landschaftsbilder angeboten. Für ein breiteres Publikum erschwinglich waren auch Kleinpanoramen, Dioramen und natürlich die seit etwa 1870 allgegenwärtigen Postkarten. In der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts ging der Trend teilweise zu Artikeln, die mit der Schweiz herzlich wenig zu tun hatten (etwa Schwarzwälder Kuckucksuhren oder Hummel-Porzellan-Figuren), seit den 1990ern dann vor allem zu «praktischen» Souvenirs wie Taschenmessern und Schokolade. Doch nicht nur für die Touristen sind die Andenken praktisch; auch die lokale Industrie profitiert von ihnen: direkt durch Produktion und Verkauf ─ das grösste Souvenirgeschäft Luzerns zählt jährlich eine Million Besucher ─, aber auch indirekt durch ihren Werbeeffekt im Ausland.
