An Australasian and Oriental species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla: Cervidae and Suidae; adults have also been collected from Diprotodontia: Macropodidae; nymphs have been recovered from Suidae. There are no records of Haemaphysalis rusae causing human parasitism.
