Rhipicephalus longicoxatus Neumann 1905

Authors: Guglielmone, Alberto A.; Nava, Santiago; Robbins, Richard G.;

Rhipicephalus longicoxatus Neumann 1905

Abstract

42. Rhipicephalus longicoxatus Neumann, 1905. An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla: Giraffidae, and rarely on Carnivora: Canidae. There are no records of Rhipicephalus longicoxatus causing human parasitism. M: Neumann (1905) F: Neumann (1905) N: unknown L: Walker et al. (2000) Redescriptions M: Walker et al. (2000) F: Walker et al. (2000) L: none Note: the redescription of Rhipicephalus longicoxatus in Hoogstraal (1956a) refers to a different species, as discussed in Walker et al. (2000), which is also the case with the redescription of Rhipicephalus longicoxatus in Hoogstraal (1953b). Walker et al. (2000) list several instances of confusion between Rhipicephalus longicoxatus and other African Rhipicephalus species. As a consequence, no redescriptions of Rhipicephalus longicoxatus, apart from those of Walker et al. (2000), are included in the above lists.
