Abstract

Die Kurzbiografie gibt das Leben von Wilhelm Jost (1874-1944) wieder, der als Architekt und Stadtbaurat der Stadt Halle (Saale) zwischen 1912 und 1940 mehr als 60 Gebäude federführend plante oder ihre Errichtung betreute. Damit prägte Jost ganz wesentlich die Umgestaltung der Stadt zu einer Großstadt. Beeinflusst war er von verschiedenen Stilrichtungen des Historismus, Jugendstils und schließlich des "Neuen Bauens" (Bauhaus). This short biography describes the life of Wilhelm Jost (1874-1944), who, as architect and city architect for the city of Halle (Saale), planned or supervised the construction of more than 60 buildings between 1912 and 1940. In this way, Jost had a major influence on the transformation of the city into a metropolis. He was influenced by various styles of historicism, art nouveau and finally "Neues Bauen" (Bauhaus).
