Abstract

En Cuba, el cultivo de la mariposa (Hedychium coronaruim K.) es afectado por la cochinilla Dysmicoccus brevipes. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la efectividad del nematodo entomopatógeno Heterorhabditis amazonensis cepa HC1, sobre este insecto en tres condiciones: laboratorio, semi-controladas y campo. In vitro, se aplicaron tres dosis de juveniles infectivos (JI) del nematodo: 1; 1,5 y 2 x 102 JI.mL-1 sobre adultos de la cochinilla. ii) En condiciones semi-controladas, rizomas de mariposa fueron plantados en macetas de 5 kg e infestados con 10-12 adultos de D. brevipes. Se aplicaron cuatro tratamientos (1; 1,5 y 2 x 105 JI/maceta) más el testigo. Los datos se analizaron con ANOVA y la eficacia de los mismos se determinó mediante la fórmula de Abbot. c) En campo se seleccionaron 60 plantas infestadas y se aplicaron 2 x 105 JI/planta. En los ensayos in vitro se produjo 100 % de mortalidad de D. brevipes a las 72 h. Las macetas que recibieron nematodos exhibieron poblaciones significativamente menores que las del testigo y la eficacia del control de las cochinillas, estuvo por encima del 80 %. En campo se produjo una disminución de la población inicial, de unos 100 -150 insectos por plantón, a una media de 9,6 (15 días posterior a la aplicación); y a valores no apreciables, 45 días después de la aplicación de nematodos entomopatógenos. La cepa cubana (HC1) de H. amazonensis parasitó a D. brevipes en laboratorio, condiciones semi-controladas y campo, evidenciando su potencialidad para el manejo de la plaga.
