Digital Neonate Phantom

Abstract

This digital neonate phantom model was constructed for the purposes of MRI safety evaluation. It was created from MRI images of a neonate (female, gestational age 38w6d, age at scan 1 day, birth weight 3.50kg) with resolution 0.98 x 0.98 x 1.5mm3. The images were semi-automatically segmented into 13 tissue types. The face has been slightly blurred to preserve the anonymity of the subject. A 'blanket' layer has also been added for thermal simulations. Full details are available in the corresponding publication (doi:10.1002/mrm.28784). Please note that you must cite this paper if you use the model, and it is provided for non-commercial purposes only. The model is provided as a 3D nifti format image. Nifti (.nii) is a popular medical image format and is readable by many freely available software packages. Each voxel has an integer label corresponding to the classes listed below: Key to tissue labels 0 Background 1 Heart 2 Lungs 3 Aorta 4 Brain 5 Fat 6 Gut 7 Liver 8 Bone 9 Eyes 10 Inferior Vena Cava 11 Skin 12 Thyroid 13 Blanket 14 Muscle/Tissue
