After more than a century without any reports, the species Macrogastra portensis (Luso da Silva, 1872) has been recently restored as valid based on the study of samples in the Locard collection, collected in the late XIX century and housed in the Natural History Museum of Paris. A living population from the surroundings of Porto, Portugal, is here reported.
