Der Forschungsbericht, unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Matthieu Leimgruber in einem Forschungsteam der Universität Zürich entstanden, zeigt in drei Teilen den parallelen Aufstieg Emil Bührles als Rüstungsunternehmer, gesellschaftlicher Netzwerker sowie Kunstsammler und Mäzen.
