Psamético y las ideas sobre la lengua humana original en España: recorrido por los siglos XV-XVII

Abstract

Hacia finales del siglo XVI, cuando la teoría de la convencionalidad del lenguaje empezó a mostrar abiertamente su incompatibilidad con el dictado de las Sacras Escrituras, se rastrean ejemplos de posturas (tímidas o asertivas) que cuestionan la existencia fundada y demostrable de una lengua natural. En el marco de estas coordenadas, que son ante todo europeas, mi propósito es ilustrar un aspecto aislado y poco conocido de la reflexión que se produjo en España sobre naturaleza y convención lingüística. A partir del análisis de un mosaico de textos en los que queda la huella de una especulación sobre la motivación de la lengua de los orígenes, pretendo profundizar en las razones de la orientación cultural y de la parcial metamorfosis que sufrió en España tal cuestión.
