Las lenguas indígenas como contenido curricular: Samuel Lafone Quevedo y los programas de Arqueología americana de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (1899-1920)

Abstract

Como parte de un proyecto de investigación más amplio que analiza el proceso de institucionalización del conocimiento sobre las lenguas indígenas en Argentina, esta contribución indaga en el único espacio curricular de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires que prestó especial interés a la temática: la asignatura Arqueología americana, durante el periodo en el que Samuel Lafone Quevedo (1835-1920), destacada figura de los estudios sobre lenguas indígenas en Argentina, fue el profesor a cargo. Entre los temas de enseñanza se destacan principios metodológicos para el establecimiento de filiaciones lingüísticas y una serie de hipótesis de parentesco por él diseñadas, cuestiones que consideraba centrales para la reconstrucción de la cartografía étnica de la Argentina. El artículo analiza, en primer lugar, la trayectoria académica del profesor y, posteriormente, los sucesivos programas a su cargo
