Transdermal patches of telmisartan with matrix type were prepared by solvent evaporation technique. In this investigation the matrix of HPMC E15: Eudragit RL100 were cast to achieved sustained release of the drug. A 32 factorial design was introduced to prepare the patches. The quantities of Hyroxypropyl methyl cellulose E15 (X1), IPM (X2) were selected as independent variable. The % drug permeated was selected as response variable. The prepared patches possessed satisfactory physicochemical characteristics. invitro permeation study were performed using modified KC diffusion cell. Kinetic data revealed that the drug release followed Korsemeyer-Peppas model and the mechanism of release was found to be non fickian diffusion. The results of the study shows that telmisartan could be administered transdermally through the matrix type TDDS which seemingly free of potentially hazardous skin irritation. Keywords: Telmisartan, statistical approach, Transdermal patches, HPMC, In-vitro and in vivo evaluation.
