The new technologies and computing capabilities that have been developed over the years, allow Business Intelligence (BI) and Business Analytics (BA) to be satisfactorily and successfully implemented in an organization’s day to day activities, becoming the main cause of great competitive advantages. Therefore, the objective of this work is to present a review of the existing literature on BI and BA, evidencing that counting with quality information in Organizational Information Systems, as well as using BI and BA tools, techniques and methods, helps the executives to take better, well fundamented, informed, and timely decisions. A local banking institution is analyzed as a case study.
