Abstract

A l’interface des différentes activités, POLARIS est une plateforme de terrain pour observer le milieu marin, contribuer à la collecte de données venant compléter des actions scientifiques et sensibiliser des citoyens à une plongée environnementale. Cette action de science participative implique des plongeurs observateurs volontaires aux connaissances diverses. Elle propose des protocoles simplifiés, validés scientifiquement et étudiés pour être accessibles à un large profil de plongeurs. Du plongeur niveau 1 au moniteur, chacun peut s’impliquer dans POLARIS où plusieurs objectifs d’action sont proposés, selon des thématiques et besoins identifiés. Il s’agit ici de mutualiser les domaines d’expertises de chacun pour mettre en place un programme de territoire au service de l’environnement marin. Au-delà d’une collecte de données, POLARIS se veut être un outil de formation et de sensibilisation à une plongée environnementale pour étudier et comprendre le milieu marin. La bonne santé de ce milieu dépend directement de l’état des écosystèmes, habitats et espèces qui le composent. Les observations doivent prendre en compte les liens et interactions existant entre ces différents éléments. Ainsi, POLARIS propose des protocoles s’intéressant aux espèces mais également aux habitats associés.
