Abstract

Seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1661 ist die Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (SBB) für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. In dieser Tradition sowie im Bewusstsein ihrer besonderen historischen Verantwortung steht die SBB zu ihrer Verpflichtung, wissenschaftliches Wissen der Gesellschaft unbeschränkt und gleichberechtigt zur Verfügung zu stellen. Als Einrichtung der Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz hat sie die Berliner Erklärung über den offenen Zugang zu wissenschaftlichem Wissen unterzeichnet. Deren Ziel ist es, Open Access zu befördern – also sowohl den offenen Zugang als auch die freie Nachnutzung von wissenschaftlichen Wissensbeständen einschließlich der diesen zugrundeliegenden Daten. In ihrer Funktion eines Zentrums der überregionalen Literatur- und Informationsversorgung sowie als größte wissenschaftliche Universalbibliothek in Deutschland hat die SBB Open Access als ein zukunftsweisendes Handlungsfeld in den Blick genommen und zum festen Bestandteil ihrer strategischen Weiterentwicklung gemacht. Nicht zuletzt auch im Kontext der im Oktober 2015 beschlossenen Open Access-Strategie für Berlin hat die SBB verschiedene Themenbereiche identifiziert, in denen sie Open Access unterstützen kann. Sie engagiert sich daher für die - Digitalisierung und offene Zugänglichmachung ihrer gemeinfreien Bestände, - Bereitstellung von Infrastrukturen für das Publizieren im Open Access, - Sicherung und Erschließung amtlicher Open Access-Veröffentlichungen, - Freistellung bibliographischer Metadaten, - zielgruppenspezifische Beratung zu Fragen von Open Science, - Transformation des wissenschaftlichen Publikationssystems. Ziel des Posters ist es, entlang dieser sechs Themenbereiche einen Überblick über die vielfältigen Aktivitäten der SBB auf den verschiedenen Gebieten von Open Access und Open Science zu geben – unter jeweiliger Nennung der von ihr konzipierten Infrastrukturangebote und Projektvorhaben.
