Trifolium corniculatum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 766. 1753. "Habitat in Gargano, Apuliae." RCN: 5707. Basionym of: Trigonella corniculata (L.) L. (1759). Lectotype (Greuter in Greuter & Rechinger in Boissiera 13: 78. 1967): Herb. Linn. No. 932.8 (LINN). Current name: Trigonella corniculata (L.) L. (Fabaceae: Faboideae). Note: Specific epithet spelled " M. corniculata " [“M.” for “Melilotus”] in the protologue. Later cited as " Trifolium corniculatum " in synonymy of Trigonella corniculata, Systema Naturae, ed. 10, 2: 1180 (1759). As is established custom, the “Melilotus” is to be ignored (see Art. 23.8 and Ex. 19).
