The growing process of violence in Mexico 2006 that is a result of the interpenetration of what we call “criminal order” and “legal order” in the construction of the drug trafficking monopoly, since at least 2006, tends to hide the historical process of selective extermination of social activists, including environmental activists. This article presents preliminary research results covering events of selective extermination recorded by press between January 2017 and April 2019. The objective of the paper is to make visible some characteristics of the process of violence that causes the gravest human costs – death, disappearance, or injuries, including torture and rape – suffered by those actors involved in struggles over water, land, forests or to prevent the construction of megaprojects, including mining, which affect the collective rights of their communities.
