Fourteen new species are described: Rio acervatus from Venezuela; R. australis from Argentina; R. bicolor, R. clipeatus, R. distinctus, R. maculatus, Rio matogrossensis and R. nigritus from Brazil; R. capsularis and R. punctulatus from Suriname and Brazil; R. imaculatus and R. mexicanus from Mexico; R. indistinctus from Venezuela and Brazil; and R. surinamensis from Suriname. Key and distribution maps of the 20 species of Rio are provided, as well as, illustrations for the new species.
