Las celdas de combustible microbiano son dispositivos electroquímicos que utilizan microorganismos como biocatalizadores. Ciertos tipos de bacterias, presentes en las biopelículas formadas en el ánodo de las celdas, se enriquecen durante el funcionamiento del dispositivo convirtiéndose en los microorganismos responsables de ejecutar los procesos de transferencia electrónica [Li y col., 2018; Martell, 2017]. Por tal motivo, el presente estudio consistió en caracterizar molecularmente la comunidad bacteriana presente en la biopelícula anódica. El sistema fue operado con agua residual sintética y un inóculo sulfato reductor durante 50 días. La identificación de los microorganismos se llevó a cabo mediante la extracción del ADN, y su cuantificación por espectrofotometría, posteriormente se realizó la amplificación y secuenciación del gen RNAr 16s de dos muestras, al inicio y al final de la operación del dispositivo. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron los géneros de bacterias prevalecientes asociados a Clostridia, Bacilli, Bacteroidetes y Gammaproteobacterias, relacionadas con actividad electrogénica.
