Digestión anaerobia de residuos sólidos orgánicos: Efecto del tamaño de partícula y biodegradabilidad

Abstract

Se analizó el efecto del tamaño de partícula, así como su interacción con la proporción de las fracciones de lenta y rápida biodegradabilidad sobre la velocidad del proceso de digestión anaerobia de residuos de frutas y verduras. Para lo anterior, se utilizaron muestras de residuos frescos y digestatos provenientes de un reactor anaerobio de flujo ascendente empacado con lecho de lodos (5, 10 y 15 días de digestión), a distintos tamaños de partícula (< 1.8, 1.8 – 500, 500 – 1000 y > 1000 μm). Las distintas muestras se sometieron a digestión anaerobia en sistemas batch, determinando la velocidad de producción de metano y la biodegradabilidad para cada condición. Se observó que la biodegradabilidad de los residuos cambia con el tiempo de digestión y que existe un efecto significativo del tamaño de partícula y la proporción de las fracciones de distinta biodegradabilidad sobre la velocidad de degradación de los residuos.
