Modificación química de almidones mediante reacciones de esterificación y su potencial uso en la industria cosmética

Abstract

Resumen El almidón es uno de los biopolímeros naturales más utilizados en la industria cosmética, debido a que es un producto amigable con el ambiente, abundante y de bajo costo. Sin embargo, su estructura debe ser modificada para un mayor aprovechamiento de sus características físicas, químicas y mecánicas. Actualmente existen más de 15.000 publicaciones en donde los almidones de diferentes especies vegetales están relacionados con alguna modificación química mediante reacciones de esterificación con Anhídrido Acético, Octenil Succínico Anhidro (OSA) y Anhídrido Dodecenil Succínico (DDSA), según la búsqueda realizada en diferentes bases de datos hasta julio de 2020. Esto confirma la amplia utilidad de los almidones modificados que pueden ser utilizados como excipientes en diferentes productos de gran utilidad para la humanidad.
