Abstract

El saludo tradicional en el lenguaje ngabe es: ¿Kobo niri ño? -- ¿Qué soñó? Si la persona quien nos está saludando es de confianza, le contaremos nuestro sueño. Si no es de confianza, simplemente contestaremos : Ña tore tié. No recordar yo a. Como ustedes aquí presentes son de confianza porque han decidido venir a escuchar esta conferencia, les contaré que yo soñé que después de mis palabras van a cambiar su actitud hacia el lenguaje ngabe y no van a referirse a él como un dialecto, sino que lo llamarán como lo que en verdad es: un lenguaje humano de las hijas y los hijos de Ngobo--Dios, que etimológicamente es el significado de ngobe!ngiibe. La palabra guaymí no existe en el lenguaje ngabe. Un colega peruano me informó que guaymí es una palabra en lenguaje quechuayquesignifica mi mujer . Como tantas otras palabras aborígenes que dispersaron los españoles porel continente, tal vez la trajeron del sur y la usaron acá. O tal vez existía desde épocas prehispánicas intercambio marital entre la gente andinay la etnia ngabe, ya que la momia congelada llamada la doncella de los Andes, descubierta en la década de 1990,su ADN reveló afiliación genética paterna con la etnia ngabe.
