Mit der griffigen Formel „Wissen in Aktion“ hat Rainer Kuhlen die pragmatische Ausrichtung der Informationswissenschaft geprägt. Gleichzeitig wurde damit der informationswissenschaftliche Informationsbegriff um eine zeitliche Dimension erweitert. Der vorliegende Aufsatz zeigt, dass diese Dynamisierung des Informationsbegriffes etwa zeitgleich in den Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften, den Naturwissenschaften und im Bereich des Archiv- und Bibliothekswesens erfolgt ist.
