Abstract

Institutionell finanziertes Open Access für Zeitschriften und Bücher findet seit 2012 über verschiedene Player immer mehr Unterstützung. Knowledge Unlatched, Open Library of Humanities, Luminos und TOME sind einige Beispiele für zum Teil sehr unterschiedliche Ansätze. Sie alle haben zum Ziel, Finanzierung für Open Access Monographien in den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften zu sichern. Allen Initiativen ist gemein, dass sie durch ein hohes Maß an Experimentieren aktiv die Entwicklung der Modelle vorantreiben. Dass es dabei nicht nur Erfolge, sondern auch wichtige Flops gibt, liegt in der Natur der Sache. Der Vortrag untersucht kritisch, welche Ansätze erfolgreich waren und welche Ideen nicht funktioniert haben und bemüht sich, daraus generalisierende Ableitungen zu treffen. Zielgruppe sind Entscheider in Verlagen und Bibliotheken, die aktiv an der (Weiter-) Entwicklung von Zugangs- und Geschäftsmodellen für OA Zeitschriften und Bücher beteiligt sind.
