Abstract

Spesies dari famili Sterculiaceae banyak yang dimanfaatkan sebagai tumbuhan obat. Faloak (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br.), Pterigota (Pterygota alata (Roxb.) R. Br.) dan Nitas (Sterculia foetida L.) adalah tumbuhan dari famili Sterculiaceae yang dikenal memiliki khasiat obat. Sebaran alami ketiga tumbuhan ini berbeda-beda. Faloak tersebar di wilayah Nusa Tenggara dan Nitas tersebar hampir diseluruh wilayah Indonesia. Sedangkan Pterigota banyak tumbuh di Asia Selatan (Myanmar hingga India) namun juga ditanam di Indonesia. Kandungan utama genus Sterculia pada umumnya adalah senyawa flavonoid. Informasi mengenai kandungan flavonoid ketiga spesies ini dapat menjadi awal untuk studi lebih lanjut pengembangan obat baru. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Flavonoid Total kulit batang Faloak (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br.), Nitas (Sterculia foetida L.) dan Pterigota (Pterygota alata (Roxb.) R. Br.) Metode yang digunakan untuk mengetahui kandungan flavonoid ketiga spesies ini adalah metode kolorimetri menggunakan aluminum chloride (AlCl3) dan kuersetin sebagai pembanding. Bagian tumbuhan (simplisia) yang digunakan adalah kulit batang dari pohon dengan ukuran diameter yang hampir sama (35-40cm). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kandungan flavonoid ketiga tumbuhan tersebut berbeda. Kandungan flavonoid pada faloak menunjukkan nilai yang paling besar dibandingkan nitas dan pterigota dengan nilai secara berturut-turut; 0,21, 0,07 dan 0,03 %b/b ekuifalensi kuersetin (%).
