Abstract

Resumen Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de enfermedades relacionadas con trastornos del sueño en menores de edad atendidos en instituciones de salud de la ciudad de Cali Colombia, durante el año 2017. Materiales y métodos: Estudio observacional de base poblacional y de prevalencia de periodo. Se empleó una base de datos secundaria suministrada por la Secretaria de Salud Pública Municipal de la ciudad de Santiago de Cali – Colombia, información derivada de los Registros Individuales de Prestación de Servicios (RIPS) correspondientes al año 2017. Población conformada por pacientes menores de edad que consultaron durante el periodo, se utilizó la totalidad de los datos disponibles. Resultados: Del total de enfermedades relacionadas con la especialidad de otorrinolaringología (24716) atendidas en Cali, se encontró que el 34,3% (n = 8487) correspondían a las relacionadas con trastornos del sueño en menores de edad. Siendo más prevalente en el sexo masculino (57,25%). El principal diagnóstico atendido fue hipertrofia de los adenoides (37,94%), seguido por la hipertrofia de los cornetes nasales (34,46%). Los Infantes (menores de 6 años) 62,07% fueron los más afectados. Conclusión: Los trastornos del sueño en la infancia y la adolescencia prevalecen principalmente en los menores que están iniciando su vida escolar, específicamente preescolar y primaria.
