Abstract

Maritime Analysis and Operations Center (MAOC) in: Gabler Wirtschaftslexikon Online (1.10.2020) Maritime Analysis and Operations Center (MAOC) dt. Maritimes Analyse- und Operationszentrum, Initiative von sieben Mitgliedstaaten der Europäischen Union zur Analyse und Bekämpfung des Drogenschmuggels auf dem Seewege und Luftwege mit Sitz in Lissabon. 1. Gründung und Finanzierung: Das MAOC wurde 2007 von sieben EU-Mitgliedstaaten gegründet (Frankreich, Irland, Italien, Niederlande, Portugal, Spanien und UK) und es wird von der Europäischen Union kofinanziert (Internal Security Fund). 2. Zusammenarbeit und Probleme: Die Bekämpfung des internationalen Drogenhandels kann nur durch internationale Kooperation gelingen. Die EU muss insbes. mit Staaten und Diensten aus Nordamerika, Mittel- und Südamerika sowie Afrika zusammenarbeiten. Neben den sieben Gründungsmitgliedern müssen mehr nordeuropäische EU-Mitgliedstaaten kooperieren: Belgien, Dänemark, Deutschland, Finnland, Schweden. Die südlichen EU-Mitgliedstaaten sollten ebenfalls eingebunden werden und mitwirken: Malta, Griechenland, Kroatien, Zypern. Mit dem Brexit ist das Gründungsmitglied UK förmlich aus der EU ausgetreten. Die künftige Sicherheitskooperation wird im EU-UK-Nachfolgeabkommen ausgehandelt.
