As a result of long-term research, a database was created on the parameters of the photosynthetic apparatus in the model and natural populations of Betula pendula Roth and B. pubescens Ehrh., representing the latitudinal distribution of these species from steppe to forest-tundra. It was shown that climate-related changes in birch leaf parameters are under the strong genetic control. The urgency of creating a database on the geographical cultures of tree species on the territory of the Russian Federation has been proved.
