Abstract

Als «Hikikomori» wird die soziale Isolation bezeichnet, wenn sich Menschen für mindestens sechs Monate – oft aber auch viel länger – vollständig aus dem gesellschaftlichen Leben zurückziehen. Lange als genuin japanisches Phänomen betrachtet, gibt es sogar in der Schweiz Fälle, die dem Hikikomori zu ähneln scheinen, wie die Masterpreis-Trägerin Melanie Nideröst schildert.
