This file contains the data extracted from the following publication: Ma, Changlin 马长林. Lao Shanghai hangming cidian 老上海行名辞典 1880-1941 (English-Chinese Hong List of Shanghai). Shanghai 上海: Shanghai guji chunbanshe 上海古籍出版社, 2008. This publication compiled the information in the successive annual editions of the Shanghai Hong List, a directory that listed a wide range of institutions and organizations that were present or represented in Shanghai between 1880 and 1941. Although the publication was geared mostly toward the business community, it covered an extensive range of religious, cultural, etc. organizations, as well as individual professionals. This version contains only the English names of the institutions.
