Especies aromáticas promisorias y sus aceites esenciales

Abstract

Las especies aromáticas contribuyen en la salud, economía, integración cultural, producción de conocimiento en botánica, diversidad genética, química y farmacología entre otras. Los aceites esenciales extraídos de diferentes partes de estas especies son responsables de su fragancia y se les emplea como antisépticos; saborizantes; en la industria de los jabones, detergente; alimenticia y en farmacia para conferir sabor y aroma a jarabes y elixires medicinales. En el Estado Táchira abundan las citadas especies algunas introducidas y otras autóctonas, muchas de las cuales se emplean tradicionalmente en gastronomía y en la preparación de bebidas artesanales. El objetivo de este trabajo es dar a conocer los aceites esenciales de Ocotea barcellensis y Lippia alba los cuales se extrajeron por horadación (24 horas) y hidrodestilación (3horas) empleando trampa de Clevenger respectivamente. El rendimiento del aceite (%v/p) se midió en base a peso fresco y se secó con sulfato de sodio anhidro para posterior análisis cromatogràfico CG y CG/MS. Los componentes de los aceites esenciales se identificaron mediante sus índices de retención (RI) y por comparación de sus espectros de masa con los reportados en las bases de datos. La abundancia de E-citral (31%), trans-geraniol (14%) y Z-citral (24%) en el aceite esencial de Lippia alba (Mill.) N.E. Brown, lo sugieren con aplicación en perfumería y desinfectante. El predominio de p-cimeno en el aceite de O. barcellensis lo hace promisorio en la industria química de disolventes.
