Nipponobythus Jeannel 1958

Authors: Yin, Zi-Wei;

Nipponobythus Jeannel 1958

Abstract

Genus Nipponobythus Jeannel, 1958 After a revision of the genus (LÖBL 1965) 12 species were known, seven from China and five from Japan. Later NOMURA & LEE (1992, 1993) added two more species from South Korea.At present Nipponobythus is formally placed in the tribe Iniocyphini. Based on the shared presence of a smooth depression on the gena, KURBATOV et al. (2007: 592) implicitly suggested a close relationship of the group, together with a number of related genera, to the tribe Proterini. Members are usually collected from leaf litter samples, and two Japanese species have been known to inhabit caves.
