Guyalna bicolor (Olivier, 1790) new record Cicada bicolor Olivier 1790: 748. (Cayenne, French Guiana) Cicada passerculus Walker 1850: 125. (Pará, Brazil) Cicada spinicosta Walker 1850: 126. (Pará, Brazil) Cicada lacrines Walker 1850: 132. (British Guiana) Fidicina cayennensis Kirkaldy 1909: 391. Remarks. Sanborn (2016a) summarized the history and synonymy of the various species now considered to be G. bicolor. The short, stocky species with the body about half as wide as it is long (body lengths range from 19–23 mm) is unique among the species of Guyalna and can be separated quickly from other members of the genus. The name is in reference to the bright green head and thorax (fading or chemically altered to ochraceous in some specimens) and castaneous or testaceous abdomen. The wings are completely hyaline and lateral abdominal tergites 2–4 are often covered with areas of dense silvery pile. Distribution. The species has been reported under the various synonyms from Brazil Colombia, Costa Rica, French Guiana, Nicaragua, and Panama (Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2011a; 2013; 2014a; 2016a, b; 2018b; Sanborn & Maes 2012; Maes et al. 2012). The range of the species was recently expanded to include Peru (Sanborn 2020c). Material examined for new record. “ Georgetown B.G. / Oct. 29, 1954 ” one female (FSCA).
